Suede loafers, and how to wear them

A loafer is the shoe that decides how the rest of an outfit reads. The same trousers and knit look relaxed over a suede penny loafer and considerably more formal over a polished leather one.

The pairs in the range differ in ways worth knowing. A penny loafer with a slim stacked sole keeps the line low and close to the foot. A moc toe with visible stitching reads softer and more casual. A high-cut pair with a padded collar sits higher on the ankle and carries a heavier trouser better.

Worn without socks through the warm months, with a fine ribbed sock once it turns. Suede does not like a downpour, so keep a second pair for the days that look uncertain.
