Knitwear: what separates the pieces

Knitwear is where most wardrobes get repetitive: four sweaters that do the same job in four colours. The pieces here are chosen to layer rather than compete.

The fine gauge crew neck is the thinnest and goes under everything, including a shirt. The half-zip with a ribbed stand collar is the one that works on its own, with the collar giving it enough structure to sit with tailored trousers. The full-zip hooded cardigan is the outermost of the three and replaces a light jacket in between seasons.

Bought together, they cover most of autumn without a single coat. Bought separately, they tend to be the same sweater three times.
