How to build a wardrobe that works together

The quickest way to a wardrobe that never quite works is to buy pieces one at a time, each one answering a different idea. A jacket bought for one occasion, a knit bought for another, a shirt that sits with neither.

The range here is deliberately small for that reason. Every piece is chosen so it sits with the rest: the overshirt goes over the half-zip, the half-zip goes over the crew neck top, and the trousers underneath do not fight any of it. Warm neutrals do most of that work. Camel, stone, olive and navy sit together without anyone having to think about it.

Start with two layers you will wear constantly, add a third that changes the look, and stop. A wardrobe you build beats one you buy in a single afternoon.
